Jets’ Dylan Samberg suffers broken foot, heading back to Winnipeg for evaluation

Watch as Winnipeg Jets' Dylan Samberg heads to the locker room after blocking a slapshot from Predators' Steven Stamkos.

The Winnipeg Jets‘ blue line took a hit during Saturday night’s loss to the Nashville Predators.

Defenceman Dylan Samberg left the game in the second period with a lower-body injury and did not return. Head coach Scott Arniel confirmed to reporters after the game that the defenceman suffered a broken foot and is heading back to Winnipeg for further evaluation.

Samberg left the game earlier in the period after blocking a Steven Stamkos slapshot on the penalty kill. The 25-year-old went down in a heap and was slow to get up, but finished his shift before heading to the Jets bench and down the tunnel.

It was Samberg’s second blocked shot of the game in just over nine minutes of ice time.

Winnipeg was down to just five defencemen, with Dylan DeMelo, Colin Miller, Josh Morrissey, Hayden Fleury and Neal Pionk left to close out the game against Nashville.
