Colin Miller is staying north of the border.
The 31-year-old defenceman agreed to a two-year contract with a $1.5 million average annual value to return to the Winnipeg Jets on Monday, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.
Miller was acquired by Winnipeg at the 2024 trade deadline from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round pick.
In 46 total games in 2023-24, Miller scored four goals and collected five assists.
After the trade, the nine-year NHL veteran played in just five games for the Jets and was often a healthy scratch. After Brendan Dillon signed with the Devils earlier Monday, there could be more room on the Winnipeg blue line in 2024-25.
Miller, a native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., has played in 512 career NHL games, scoring 39 goals and totalling 166 points. He has spent time with the Jets, Devils, Dallas Stars, Buffalo Sabres, Vegas Golden Knights and Boston Bruins.
He was originally selected in the fifth round of the 2012 NHL Draft by the Los Angeles Kings.
