John Hayden is staying on the West Coast.

Hayden signed a two-year contract, one-way extension with the Seattle Kraken, the team announced on Wednesday.

The deal is worth $775,000 per year.

Hayden, 30, registered a goal and an assist in 20 games for Seattle this season. The veteran also posted 11 goals and 16 assists over 44 games in the American Hockey League.

“John has been an important player in our organization over the past three seasons, making an impact at both the NHL and AHL level,” Kraken general manager Jason Botterill said in a statement. “He’s a strong leader who brings a terrific work ethic and physical presence. We’re excited to have him in our organization for the next two years.”

The six-foot-three forward has appeared in 321 NHL contests over his nine-year career, scoring 18 goals and adding 21 helpers. Hayden spent his first three seasons in Chicago after the Blackhawks selected him in the third round of the 2013 draft.
