The Tampa Bay Lightning signed forward Josh Archibald to a two-year deal on Saturday. The contract carries an average annual value of $800,000.

The five-foot-10 forward spent the 2022-23 season with the Pittsburgh Penguins — his second stint with the club that drafted him in the sixth round in 2011 and with whom he won the Stanley Cup in 2016-17.

The 30-year-old winger registered six goals and 12 points in 62 games and brought a physical presence to the bottom six last season, and with the Lightning navigating some tough cap constrictions he’s an affordable depth option for a team expected to contend again.

Before rejoining Pittsburgh last year, Archibald spent two years in Arizona and three in Edmonton. In 305 career regular-season games, he’s totalled 45 goals and 83 points.
