Maple Leafs’ Joseph Woll could make season debut vs. Blue Jackets

Igor Shesterkin made 34 saves, Chris Kreider scored two goals including the game-winner, and Reilly Smith and Mika Zibanejad each recorded two assists as the New York Rangers defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1.

Joseph Woll appears poised to make his season debut this week.

Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube said Woll could start in the net as soon as Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Anthony Stolarz will start Monday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. It will be his fifth start of the season, in Toronto’s sixth game.

Woll was due to start the Maple Leafs’ opener but was a late scratch with a lower-body injury. He returned to practice on Friday.

Monday’s game will also see the return of Max Pacioretty to the lineup after he was healthy scratched for two games. Ryan Reaves will come out of the lineup to make room for Pacioretty.
