Maple Leafs placing McMann on injured reserve, Jarnkrok leaves practice

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Calle Jarnkrok was forced to leave practice early after suffering an apparent injury. No information has been given on the nature of the injury.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Bobby McMann will be placed on injured reserve with a lingering undisclosed injury, head coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters after practice on Friday.

Additionally, forward Calle Jarnkrok was forced to leave practice after blocking a shot off the hand. Keefe said they won’t know the full extent of the injury until Jarnkrok gets further assessed.

Tyler Bertuzzi was back at practice after missing Wednesday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets while awaiting the birth of his child.

If Jarnkrok is forced to miss the game, Ryan Reaves would likely draw into the lineup. The 37-year-old hasn’t been in the team’s lineup since suffering a knee injury on Dec. 14. However, he told Sportsnet’s Luke Fox that he’s been ready for “a couple weeks.”

Ilya Samsonov will start in goal for the Maple Leafs, his third consecutive start after returning from the AHL.
