Ryan Reaves‘ tenure with the Toronto Maple Leafs has come to an end.

The Maple Leafs traded the forward to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for defenceman Henry Thrun, the team announced Thursday.

Reaves, 38, played just 35 regular-season games for the Maple Leafs in 2024-25, registering two assists. He’s spent the last two seasons in Toronto, suiting up for 84 games in the blue-and-white.

“We’re excited to welcome Ryan to the organization,” said Sharks general manager Mike Grier. “He will bring energy, personality, physical play and toughness to our group. He has been a part of many winning teams, and I witnessed firsthand the positive impact he can bring to a group when I was with the Rangers.”

Thrun, 24, played 60 games with the Sharks last season, registering two goals and 12 points while averaging 17:31 time on ice. He was selected by the Ducks in the fourth round of the 2019 NHL Draft, but was traded to the Sharks in 2023 in exchange for a third-round draft pick.

He’s appeared in 119 career NHL games, picking up five goals and 25 points.
