Raceline Radio Weekend Wrap-Up, and Show Guest Schedule

Compiled By Erik Tomas, The Raceline Radio Network. Week Of: June 6th 2021

“All schedule dates subject to change: Covid 19 Pandemic”

Formula One World Driving Championship:
Last Race: Sunday June 6th: Baku, Azerbaijan: Entertaining but messy! Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was 2 laps away from the win until his left rear tire came apart and he crashed, same failure putting Montreal’s Lance Stroll out a few laps earlier when he was running 5th. They red flagged the race and re-started it with 2 laps to go, where Lewis Hamilton, from 2nd, over cooked an over-take attempt for the lead and he wound up in the runoff. He accidently hit the “magic” button that puts the brake bias on the front wheels to overheat the brakes that heat up cold tires. As soon as he touched the breaks off the re-start they locked up! Threat removed, Sergio Perez wins Azerbaijan for Red Bull. Sebastian Vettel 2nd, his first podium for Aston Martin, Pierre Gasly 3rd for Alfa Tauri.
Canada’s Nick Latifi finished 13th but was slapped with a 10 second penalty for not coming to the pit lane right away during the late-race-red, scored 16th. Not his fault. His Williams team told him to stay out for some reason.

F-1 Points: With both Verstappen and Hamilton scoring DNF’s, critical in the points: Verstappen still leads Hamilton by 4 in Drivers, Red Bull’s lead over Mercedes in Constructors now 26 points thanks to the Perez win into the French GP at Paul Ricard June 27th.

Next Race: Sunday June 27th, The French Grand Prix, Paul Ricard.

Last Race: Sunday June 6th: Road Course, Sonoma Raceway: Kyle Larson stays red hot in NASCAR Cup! He survived 3 late race cautions and restarts to out leg Hendrick team mate Chase Elliott for Larson’s 2nd Cup win in a row, 3rd of the season. That’s a new record win # 270 for Hendrick and with their 4th 1-2 finish in a row, they re-set that NASCAR record that dates back to 1956!

Next Race: Sunday June 13th: All Star Open and All Star race, Texas Motor Speedway

Helio overhauled 24 year old Alex Palou with a daring outside pass in turn one with only 2 laps to go to claim his 4th Indianapolis 500 win! The Canadians: James Hinchcliffe 21st , Dalton Kellett: 23rd.
