Bo Bichette‘s World Series showcase at second base may be more than just a blip.
The free-agent shortstop is telling teams he is willing to move one position to his left, MLB Network’s Mark Feinsand reported on Wednesday.
Bichette manned second competently during all seven games of the World Series, marking his first time at the position at the major-league level.
Not considered a star defensive shortstop, a willingness to move position could help Bichette open more opportunities as he searches for his next contract.
Bichette ranked in the first percentile in range (minus-13) and 36th percentile in arm strength (82.3 m.p.h.), per Baseball Savant.
On the other hand, there are few questions about Bichette’s bat.
The 27-year-old hit .311 last season, placing second in MLB with 44 doubles and tying for second with 181 hits.
He missed much of the final month as well as the ALDS and ALCS with a knee injury, but returned for the Fall Classic, hitting .348 with one home run and six RBIs.
Bichette, an Orlando, Fla., native, has spent all seven seasons of his MLB career with Toronto.
