Rashawn Slater is set to become the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history.
The Los Angeles Chargers signed Slater to a four-year, $114-million extension, a record-breaking mark for his position group, the team announced Sunday
ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported the news.
According to Schefter, the contract comes with $92 million guaranteed.
A two-time Pro Bowler, Slater has been a steady force along the Chargers’ offensive line since the team drafted him 13th overall in 2021 out of Northwestern University.
The Sugar Land, Texas native allowed three sacks in the 2024 season and committed six penalties.
Strong in both run and pass blocking, Pro Football Focus had the 26-year-old ranked as the second-best offensive tackle in the NFL in the 2024 season, finishing with a 91.1 overall grade.
The Chargers have invested a lot in their offensive line as they look to protect quarterback Justin Herbert. They drafted Joe Alt fifth overall in 2024 and have a combined $16.6 million committed to guards Trey Pipkins and Mekhi Becton for the 2025 season.
