Reigning offensive rookie of the year Jayden Daniels will be like a kid at Christmas with all the Commanders’ new additions this off-season.
The Washington Commanders have swung a blockbuster deal to acquire five-time Pro Bowl tackle Laremy Tunsil from the Houston Texans, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Monday.
Houston will receive a third- and seventh-round pick in 2025, as well as a second- and fourth-round pick in 2026 as part of the return. Washington will also acquire a 2025 fourth-rounder in the deal.
Tunsil marks the latest addition by the Commanders, who swung a trade earlier in the off-season for one-time All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel, beefing up what was already an impressive offence in the American capital.
As a rookie, QB Jayden Daniels was sacked 47 times — good for the sixth-most in the NFL — and will surely welcome Tunsil as a strong addition to a struggling offensive line.
The 30-year-old offensive tackle has been named to the Pro Bowl in five of the last six seasons since joining the Texans via trade from the Miami Dolphins in 2019.
He started all 17 games for the Texans last season, marking the second time in his nine-year career that he has played a full season.
The Lake City, Fla. native was drafted by the Dolphins 13th overall in 2016 and spent the first three years of his career in Miami before being traded to Houston.
