Second baseman Javier Baez is close to signing a six-year deal with the Detroit Tigers, according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi.

The free agent batted .265 with 31 home runs and 87 RBIs last season combined with the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets.

The Mets acquired Baez in a trade in late July.

Baez was an NL all-star with the Cubs in 2018 and ’19 and helped Chicago win a World Series in 2016.
