The San Jose Sharks are recommitting to defenceman Jack Thompson.

Thompson has been re-sgined to a one-year, two-way contract extension, the team announced Monday.

The 23-year-old blueliner spent the 2024-25 season split between the Sharks and the San Jose Barracuda (AHL). He appeared in 31 regular-season NHL games and tied for fourth among all NHL rookies in points.

Thompson played the 2023-24 season in the AHL with the Syracuse Crunch and the San Jose Barracuda. He played 46 games with the Crunch, where he lead all rearguards in both points (32) and assists (27) before being traded to San Jose.

Thompson made his NHL debut with the Sharks on Jan. 6, 2024, after being selected in the third round of the 2020 NHL Draft (93rd overall) by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
