One of the Sharks’ young forwards is set to stick around for the long haul.

San Jose has signed 22-year-old forward William Eklund to a three-year, $16.8 million extension worth $5.6 million in average annual value, the team announced Tuesday.

The Sharks announced that the deal is set to start in the 2026-27 season.

Eklund had a breakout year in his second full season with the club, tallying 17 goals and 41 assists — both career-highs — in 77 games. He led the Sharks in assists, primarily sharing a top line with 2024 first-overall pick Macklin Celebrini.

The Stockholm native was drafted by the Sharks seventh overall in 2021 and made his NHL debut in the 2021-22 season.

Over 174 games at the NHL level, Eklund has tallied 35 goals and 75 assists for 110 points.
