Stars’ Roope Hintz suffered fractured foot from slash by Oilers’ Nurse

Roope Hintz battled through a fractured foot he suffered during the Western Conference Final.

Hintz confirmed the injury while speaking to reporters during locker-room cleanout on Saturday.

The Dallas Stars forward was injured in the Stars’ Game 2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers following a slash from defenceman Darnell Nurse, who received a two-minute minor penalty but no supplemental discipline on the play.

Hintz was sidelined for Game 3 of the series with the injury before returning for the final two games. He scored in Game 5 while skating 16:59.

The 28-year-old had six goals and six assists in 17 playoff games this post-season.

The Stars went on to lose the series in five games with the Oilers moving on to the Stanley Cup Final.
