New York Rangers captain J.T. Miller didn’t hold back after his team’s ugly loss to the Boston Bruins on Saturday.
The American forward said the 10-2 loss was “as bad it gets.”
“The only thing that matters now is this should sting,” said Miller, who scored one of the two Ranger goals. “This should make you want to puke, and then respond tomorrow and the next day.”
Mika Zibanejad scored New York’s other goal. Rangers goalie Jonathan Quick gave up six goals on 20 shots, and was pulled for Spencer Martin, who gave up four on 14 shots.
Assistant captain Vincent Trochek echoed Miller’s disappointment.
“It’s almost got to be a complete reset,” said Trochek after the game. “Just completely start over from scratch, and it starts with heart.”
The loss marked the Rangers’ third straight, and it keeps them second-last in the Metropolitan Division, tied on points with the New Jersey Devils but having played two more games.
“The only thing that matters is a response,” said Miller.
The Rangers will have the chance to do just that Monday night against the Seattle Kraken. You can stream that game on Sportsnet+ at 7 p.m ET / 4 p.m. PT.
