Utah signs Ian Cole to one-year extension

The Utah Hockey Club had a busy day on Wednesday.

In their latest move, Utah signed veteran defenceman Ian Cole to a one-year contract extension. Per Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, Cole’s cap hit will be $2.8 million with $200,000 available in bonuses that could increase the contract’s worth to $3 million.

Cole, 36, signed with Utah as a free agent last off-season. Prior to that, he played for the Vancouver Canucks, Tampa Bay Lightning, Carolina Hurricanes, Minnesota Wild, Colorado Avalanche, Columbus Blue Jackets, Pittsburgh Penguins and St. Louis Blues.

Through 61 games this season, Cole has recorded one goal and 13 points.

Utah also signed forward Alex Kerfoot to a one-year contract extension earlier on Wednesday evening.
