Canadian auto racer Robert Wickens is in hospital for precautionary observation following an accident during a race at the Nürburgring in Germany.
Wickens, who drives a Hyundai Elantra N TCR for Bryan Herta Autosport, crashed midway through the NLS 1 race on Saturday.
The 35-year-old from Guelph, Ont., was "conscious and alert" and was taken to a nearby hospital, the team said.
Wickens was paralyzed from the waist down following a crash during an IndyCar race in 2018.
He returned to full-time racing in 2022 using a hand-control system.
Wickens and co-driver Harry Gottsacker captured the TCR class championship in the Michelin Pilot Challenge series last season.
