It has been a tough couple of years in Formula 1 for Ferrari and it has raised questions about Charles Leclerc's future.
A report from Italian journalist Leo Turrini in Quotidiano Nazionale claimed that the Ferrari driver and Mercedes team principal have been in talks over a potential move in future
Leclrec's contract with Ferrari expires at the end of the 2024 season raising speculation of whether he will commit to remain with the team in the long-term.
When asked if he would consider a switch to Mercedes, Leclerc told reporters: "I'm fully committed to Ferrari and I love Ferrari.
"It has always been a dream for me to be in this team and my main priority is to win a world championship with this team. So it's not something in my mind."
This did not stop Mercedes chief Toto Wolff from admitting that Leclerc is on his "radar" as uncertainty over Lewis Hamilton's future with the team continues.
"The only time I talked with him is when we discussed where the gate is in Melbourne to board the plane," Wolf explained.
"Charles is a super guy and for the long-term future someone you have to have on your radar but not for the short and medium term."
Wolf also said the team's main goal is to get Hamilton signed to a new deal and that he believes Leclerc's desire to remain with Ferrari.
The speculation didn't sit well with Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur who didn't think there was any validity towards a potential move involving Leclerc and Mercedes.
“Yes, the rumours about Charles and Mercedes are bull***t. Charles said he loves Ferrari and wants to win with Ferrari," Vasseur told SkySport Italia.
"We are at the beginning of the season, where there is much gossip we will hear every weekend, but we are not worried.”
The goal now for Ferrari will be to improve on their performance at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix with Leclerc earning pole position and finishing third for Vasseur's first podium with Ferrari.
Heading into the Miami Grand Prix, the Scuderia still has a lot of work ahead of them if they want to close the gap on Red Bull. The team plans to unveil some upgrades heading into the race and the upcoming European circuits.
"We will start to bring updates on the car from Miami and for the next couple of events and we will see how the car will react to the updates," Vasseur said.
"The update is one thing but the fact that you are able to extract all of the potential out of the update is another one."
