Formula 1 are set to announce a new race in Las Vegas in the coming weeks, according to Front Office Sports.
The new race would be held on American Thanksgiving weekend and the track would reportedly incorporate part of the Las Vegas Strip.
This would be F1's third event on U.S. soil with a race in Austin, Texas, at the Circuit of the Americas track and a new Grand Prix in Miami that will debut in May.
Africa, China next?
Speaking with Sky Sports, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali hinted that China and Africa could also be in the plans for the future.
"On top of America, on top of China, I think there is a potential also to be in Africa soon," Domenicali told Sky Sports. "There is a lot of interest there. For sure that's another area that so far is missing in the geography of our calendar."
Africa remains the only continent currently without a Formula 1 Grand Prix (excluding Antarctica of course). South Africa's Kyalami circuit, north of Johannesburg, was the last to hold a race on the continent back in 1993.
Seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton said back at the US Grand Prix in 2021 that the Kyalami was "dear to my heart and most important to me is to get a race back in South Africa."
