Patrick aims to improve in Richmond

Danica Patrick is ready to get back on track at the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 in Richmond, Va., on Friday night.

Patrick earned her first top-10 finish of the season in Texas before the Nationwide series took a short weekend off in the schedule.

But the 30-year-old JR Motorsports driver admitted the short-track Richmond International Raceway will be a test for her.

“Short tracks are challenging, and an area where I need to see improvement,” Patrick said in a team press release. “We have great results to build off from our last race, so this is a good opportunity to take that positive momentum and move forward.

Patrick, who is currently 11th in the Nationwide standings in the No. 7 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet, finished 18th in last year’s race at Richmond and is looking to build on that performance.

“I have a certain level of experience at RIR, so that is something I have going for me,” Patrick said. “I just want to go in there, take it one lap at a time and not get ahead of myself. There is a great support system with (crew chief) Tony (Eury) Jr. and the entire Go Daddy team.”
