DARLINGTON, S.C. — NASCAR star Carl Edwards and his wife, Kate, have announced the birth of their second child, son Michael.
Edwards said Friday that Michael Edwards was born Wednesday night weighing 8 pounds, 6 ounces and that he and his mother were in good health and home resting. The Edwardses also have a daughter, Anne, who was born in February 2010.
"She’s a great mom," Edwards said of Kate, "so I hope she enjoys this Mother’s Day."
The Sprint Cup points leader is preparing for Saturday’s Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
