OSCHERSLEBEN, Germany — The teenage son of former Formula One champion Michael Schumacher completed his first public test drive on Wednesday.

The 16-year-old Mick Schumacher was kept away from reporters who had assembled to see his official debut for the Van Amersfoort Formula 4 team.

In the three test sessions, Mick Schumacher finished eighth, fifth and 12th, respectively, out of 33 drivers.

His father won a record seven Formula One titles and 91 Grand Prix in a stellar career. Michael Schumacher is still recovering from serious head injuries suffered in a skiing accident on Dec. 29, 2013.

Mick Schumacher will make his Formula 4 racing debut on April 25-26 on the same course in Oschersleben.
