Despite taking an early lead in Game 1 of the American League Division Series, the Texas Rangers are already down a star.
Third baseman Adrian Beltre has left the game with lower-back stiffness.
Sportsnet’s Arash Madani was the first to report that Beltre was in pain early in the game.
Shi Davidi later confirmed that he was leaving the game in the middle of the third inning.
Before his departure Beltre went 1-for-1 in two plate appearances walking in the first inning and driving in the Rangers’ second run in the third.
On the season the 36-year-old hit .287/.334/.453 with 18 home runs and 83 RBI.
