The Toronto Blue Jays have activated outfielder Ezequiel Carrera from the 15-day disabled list and designated outfielder Junior Lake for assignment.
Carrera was placed on the DL on Aug. 1 with a left Achilles strain. Prior to that, the 29-year-old had struggled in 11 games following the all-star break, hitting .087 (2-for-23). He rejoins a Blue Jays outfield that’s been depleted with injuries as Jose Bautista (left knee sprain) and Kevin Pillar (left thumb sprain) are on the 15-day DL.
Lake has spent two stints with the Blue Jays this season, the most recent lasting just three games. The 26-year-old is batting .200 (7-for-35) in 22 games for the major league club this season.
