The Toronto Blue Jays have activated Lourdes Gurriel Jr. from the 10-day disabled list, the team announced on Friday.
In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays have optioned infielder Richard Urena to the triple-A Buffalo Bisons.
Gurriel has been on the disabled list since Aug. 1 after suffering a left high ankle sprain and a Grade 1 sprain of the left knee on July 29 against the Chicago White Sox.
Before he got hurt, the 24-year-old was in the midst of an 11-game multi-hit streak. Gurriel is hitting .322/.340/.503 this season with seven home runs and 22 RBIs.
Urena, 22, has appeared in 20 games for the Blue Jays this sesason, slashing .273/.333/.409 in 44 at-bats with one home run and four RBIs.
