The Toronto Blue Jays have activated infielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. off the seven-day concussion disabled list. Richard Urena has been optioned to triple-A Buffalo to make room on the roster.
Gurriel suffered the concussion on July 15 after sliding head-first into first base. Gurriel was kicked in the back of the head by Boston Red Sox pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez, who was trying to leap over him.
In 31 games with the Blue Jays in 2018, Gurriel owns a .270 batting average with four home runs and 15 RBIs.
Urena has logged 19 plate appearances for Toronto this season, collecting five hits including one home run.
In other notable news, pitcher Marco Estrada will make a rehab start for double-A New Hampshire Monday. Estrada is on the disabled list with a left glute strain.
