Blue Jays announce first round of spring training cuts

Charlie Montoyo spoke about having one-on-one conversations with players that are being sent down to the minors and what he expects from them.

The Toronto Blue Jays have optioned right-handed pitchers Thomas Hatch, Elvis Luciano, Patrick Murphy, Hector Perez and T.J. Zeuch to minor-league camp, the team announced on Tuesday.

Additionally, catcher Alejandro Kirk and infielders Patrick Kivlehan, Nash Knight and Logan Warmoth have been reassigned to minor-league camp.

The cuts are the first of the Blue Jays’ 2020 spring training, which wraps up in Montreal on March 23-24 with a pair of games against the New York Yankees.

Toronto’s regular season gets underway on March 26 as Rogers Centre hosts the Boston Red Sox.
