Blue Jays’ Bo Bichette exceeding expectations—including his own

Bo Bichette joins Sportsnet 590 The FAN to discuss his budding friendship with fellow Blue Jays prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and why they don’t want the names on their jerseys to define them as players.

We’ve hit the midway point of the 2017 baseball season, and everybody knows who Bo Bichette is by now.

The Toronto Blue Jays prospect has been making headlines all year, thanks to his remarkable run with the low-A Lansing Lugnuts.

Bichette’s impressive stats (.384 average, .448 OBP, 51 RBI and 10 home runs) through 70 games in Lansing earned him a trip to the Futures Game along with fellow highly-touted prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Soon afterwards, a promotion to the high-A Dunedin Blue Jays followed.

Even Bichette has been surprised by the extent of his success.

“Obviously I believed in myself and expect to have a good year but I definitely didn’t expect to be chasing .400,” Bichette told Ben Ennis on Sportsnet 590 The FAN Thursday. “It’s just me doing my work every single day, trying to get better is all I could’ve asked for.”

Bichette also talked about his relationship with Guerrero, his game plan at the plate, and more. Listen to the full interview here:
