Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Ryan Borucki was scratched from his triple-A start for the Buffalo Bisons on Sunday and may get a call up to the majors to make a start for injured starting pitcher Aaron Sanchez.
Borucki, a 15th-round pick by the Blue Jays in 2012, has been putting up some impressive numbers in the minor leagues this season compiling a 6-5 record paired with a 3.27 ERA and 1.169 WHIP through 13 games. The left-handed pitcher also has 58 strikeouts while limiting himself to just 28 walks in 2018 with Buffalo.
The 24-year-old could be getting called up to replace Sanchez who was recently sent to the 10-day disabled list while dealing with a contusion on his right index finger.
The Blue Jays are wrapping up a four-game series with the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday before they head to Houston for a three-game set against the Astros. J.A. Happ is the probable pitcher for the opener on Monday before Borucki could slot in Sanchez’s spot on Tuesday.
