Blue Jays right-hander Clay Buchholz won’t make his start for Toronto on Friday night against the Chicago White Sox due to a shoulder injury, according to Sportsnet’s Jamie Campbell and Hazel Mae.

Daniel Hudson will be the “opener” for the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.

The Blue Jays signed Buchholz to a one-year, $3-million contract in March. The 34-year-old has started five games for the Blue Jays in 2019, going 0-2 with a 6.57 ERA and 1.541 WHIP in 24.2 innings.

Hudson has appeared in 17 games for the Blue Jays this season as a reliever. The 32-year-old is 2-1 with a 3.63 ERA and 1.269 WHIP over 17.1 innings.
