The Toronto Blue Jays have called up infielder Richard Urena from the Buffalo Bisons and optioned Thomas Pannone to the triple-A, the team announced Tuesday.
Urena has appeared in 16 games for the Blue Jays in 2019, hitting .250 with 10 hits in 43 plate appearances. In 92 games with the Bisons, the 23-year-old has batted .280 with five home runs and 46 RBI.
As for Pannone, he’s primarily pitched for the parent club this season with mixed success, earning a 3-5 record and 6.44 ERA through 30 appearances (including six spot starts). Pannone has been far more consistent at triple-A, albeit in limited appearances, as his 3-0 record and 1.65 ERA over six games (five starts) suggests.
The Blue Jays begin a three-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday night.
