The Toronto Blue Jays have added a pair of arms and some organizational depth with the acquisitions of right-handers Leonel Campos and Dominic Leone.
Campos spent the last four seasons bouncing between San Diego Padres affiliates, making his MLB debut in 2014. The 29-year-old pitched 22 innings in 18 appearances out of the bullpen, logging most after he was called up when rosters expanded in September. He registered a 5.73 ERA, with 24 strikeouts, 14 walks and three home runs allowed in the big leagues.
While the Venezuelan has a career minor league ERA of 4.09, the strikeout has been his biggest weapon out of the ‘pen, averaging 12.5 strikeouts per nine over 250.2 career innings.
Heading over from the Arizona Diamondbacks is Leone, who was originally selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 16th round of the 2012 draft and was traded to the D-Backs as part a package for Mark Trumbo.
He pitched 27 major-league innings and finished the season with a 6.33 ERA. The 25-year-old did show some improvement as the year went on, allowing just two earned runs in six and two-thirds September innings.
