The Toronto Blue Jays got some positive news on their shortstop front on Monday.

Aledmys Diaz will begin a rehab assignment while Troy Tulowitzki progresses from running on an anti-gravity treadmill to ground running.

Diaz injured his ankle while running to first base and stepping on it awkwardly during a game against the Tampa Bay Rays on May 6, while Tulowitzki has not played a single game in the 2018 season due to bone spurs in his ankles.

Among other notable Blue Jays’ injuries, pitcher Marcus Stroman (shoulder) continues a long-toss routine and will throw a side session, and Steve Pearce (oblique) is set to begin a hitting progression.

The Blue Jays open up a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox on Monday.
