In his search for a new contract, David Price doesn’t just have an agent working on his behalf; he’s got an entire city.
Perhaps spurred by speculation that some big-market teams are going to make a power play for Price (the Boston Red Sox come to mind), Toronto Blue Jays fans are doing everything they can to keep the ace left-hander with their team.
The website ‘Any Price for David’ offers people who desperately want Price to stick around an opportunity to put their money where their mouth is. OK, the money part is still up to the team, but the site does allow supporters to complete the following sentence:
“If David Price stays in Toronto, I, xxxxx, agree to xxxxxxx.”
Thus far, Price has been offered a ride in a 1966 Corvette, some homemade lasagna and the chance to have his Blue Jays bathrobe washed and fluffed on a nightly basis.
No word yet if Price has tried to work any of these offers into his contract as legally binding promises.
