The Toronto Blue Jays have given veteran outfielder Norichika Aoki his unconditional release.

The move comes just a day after the team designated Aoki for assignment.

Toronto also selected the contract of Brett Anderson from triple-A Buffalo and optioned Leonel Campos.

Aoki came to Toronto from the Houston Astros as part of a non-waiver trade deadline move that saw the Blue Jays ship out left-handed pitcher Francisco Liriano for the 35-year-old, along with outfield prospect Teoscar Hernandez.
