Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons officially announced that both Maicer Izturis and Michael Saunders will start the season on the disabled list.
Izturis and Saunders were expected to miss opening day due to a groin strain and a knee injury, respectively.
Saunders was initially supposed to be out until the all-star break, but is slated to return in April. Meanwhile, Izturis cannot resume baseball activity until next week.
