Blue Jays’ Josh Donaldson returns to lineup as DH

Toronto Blue Jays superstar Josh Donaldson is thrown out while trying to leg out a single and comes up grabbing his calf and walks gingerly back to the bench, then leaves right away being replaced by Ryan Goins.

Toronto Blue Jays fans got some good news on Wednesday as Josh Donaldson will make his return to the diamond as a designated hitter against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Donaldson was not in the starting lineup for Tuesday’s Home Opener, but was available as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning.

The third baseman left Sunday’s games against the Tampa Bay Rays with an injury to his right calf and the team has said it wants to take a cautious approach to inserting him back into the lineup, assessing it on a day-to-day basis.

Donaldson will be batting No. 3 in the lineup, one spot below his usual place.
