Blue Jays manager John Gibbons ejected for first time this season

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons gets ejected for the first time this season against the Twins, for arguing a strike him out, throw him out double play.

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons was ejected from Wednesday afternoon’s game against the Minnesota Twins during the top of the third inning.

Gibbons was tossed after home plate umpire Dan Bellino called Blue Jays batter Teoscar Hernandez out on a full-count check swing, leading to a double play because Aledmys Diaz was running on the play and slowed down after believing Hernandez had drawn a walk.

It’s Gibbons’ first ejection of the season. Bench coach DeMarlo Hale took over as acting manager for Gibbons.
