Marcus Stroman’s Instagram account documents with great detail every aspect of the pitcher’s life. That continued in rather gruesome fashion on Monday when the Toronto Blue Jays starter shared a picture of the blister on his right middle finger.
Stroman is currently on the 10-day disabled list due to the blister, which has bothered him in recent starts and reopened during his outing against the New York Yankees on Friday. He allowed five runs on six hits over four innings, largely avoiding his slider and curveball.
“It’s kind of been something I’ve prided myself on getting through and I’m never one to bark about this being an issue ever,” Stroman said following the game. “And I pride myself on being able to go out there and battle regardless of what I have going on and I’ve gotten out there and I want to continue to go out there. I’m going to get through this because that’s who I am.
“But at this point right now I need to let it heal for a few days and kind of let that skin fully get back to being healthy.”
The 27-year-old, who also battled a shoulder issue earlier this season, has largely struggled over his 18 starts. He owns a 5.27 ERA and 1.44 WHIP across 100.2 innings.
