Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Matt Shoemaker announced that he underwent successful surgery on his knee and took the time to thank everyone for the well wishes.

Shoemaker, 32, tore his ACL on April 20 in a game against the Oakland Athletics and was ruled out for the remainder of the 2018 season.

Before suffering the injury, Shoemaker posted a 3-0 record with a 1.57 ERA in five starts after signing a one-year, $3.5-million deal with Toronto in December.
