Over the years we’ve gotten used to seeing the majority of baseball players and prospects play one position while on their journey through baseball’s ranks. So when a prospect plays all nine positions on the diamond in one game, it certainly makes you blink twice.
That’s exactly what Dunedin Blue Jays third baseman Nash Knight did against the Daytona Tortugas in a Class A game on Sunday, playing all nine positions — including pitcher and catcher — in Dunedin’s 6-5 loss to close out the season.

Knight started the game as the team’s catcher, then switched to first base to start the second inning. After taking a crack at the remaining three infield positions in the third, fourth and fifth, the 25-year-old wandered out to play left field for the sixth inning.
In the seventh frame Knight made a brief pitching appearance, allowing a hit to the only batter he faced. Knight moved to centre field following his stint on the mound, then closed out his eventful day as the ball club’s right-fielder.
The entire sequence of events was documented in entertaining fashion on the team’s Twitter account.
Knight didn’t have too much success at the plate Sunday, going 0-4 with a walk and a run scored. But he still serves as a shining example of what being a versatile position player is all about.
