The Toronto Blue Jays will have Kendrys Morales back on Saturday as they take on the Seattle Mariners.
Morales will be a designated hitter.
Morales injured his left hamstring during a game on Tuesday against Cleveland, and an MRI on Wednesday indicated he had suffered a grade 1 strain.
There was a chance Morales could have been a pinch hitter Friday night versus the Mariners after taking a few encouraging strides, though it was not deemed necessary in the Blue Jays’ 4-0 win.
The news comes a day after manager John Gibbons said Morales’ chances of starting Saturday’s game were “slim.”
The Blue Jays have been dealing with several ailments of late, particularly when it comes to soft-tissue injuries. That list currently includes Troy Tulowitzki (right hamstring strain), Josh Donaldson (right calf strain) and J.A. Happ (left elbow inflammation), among others.
