The Toronto Blue Jays have optioned infielder Santiago Espinal and right-handed reliever Jacob Waguespack to the team’s alternate training site and added both to its taxi squad.
The moves were made ahead of MLB’s noon ET deadline for teams to cut active rosters from 30 players to 28.
Espinal, 25, has appeared in five games for the Blue Jays this season, slashing .091/.091/.091 in 11 at-bats.
Waguespack, 26, has made just three appearances while recording a 1.25 WHIP and four strikeouts without surrendering any earned runs.
