Blue Jays pitcher Nate Pearson named to Futures Game roster

Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospect Nate Pearson has been named to MLB’s Futures Game roster.

The Futures Game features 50 of baseball’s best prospects in a showcase game during all-star weekend.

Pearson, 22, is the Blue Jays No. 2 prospect according to MLB Pipeline. He has been lights out this season in double-A New Hampshire, consistently hitting triple-digits on the radar gun. In 14 starts split between New Hampshire and single-A Dunedin this season, he has a 1.89 ERA with 66 strikeouts in 47.2 innings.

MLB announced the starting rosters for the all-star game on Thursday and will announce the remaining reserves and pitchers on Sunday. The 90th MLB All-Star Game will take place July 9 in Cleveland.
