The Toronto Blue Jays have placed starting pitcher Marco Estrada on the 10-day disabled list with a left glute strain. The move is retroactive to July 10.

Estrada last pitched on July 3 when injury forced him out of a start against the New York Mets in the first inning.

Estrada has logged a 4.72 ERA through 17 starts this season. The 35-year-old right-hander is a pending free agent and is one potential trade chip the Blue Jays could use ahead of the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline.

Outfielder Dwight Smith Jr. has been recalled from triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move. In 15 games with the Blue Jays in 2018, Smith Jr. has slashed .300/.382/.533 with one home run and four RBIs.
