The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled pitcher Danny Barnes from triple-A Buffalo, the team announced Tuesday.
Barnes has appeared in four games with the Bisons in 2017, surrendering two runs over six innings. The right-hander saw time with the Blue Jays in 2016, pitching to a 3.95 ERA in 12 relief outings.
Toronto placed Aaron Sanchez on the disabled list over the weekend, and fellow starter J.A. Happ appears to be heading down that route as well. The team will likely look to call up a pair of starting pitchers to the roster in advance of their upcoming series against the Los Angeles Angels.
The Blue Jays open a three-game set with the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday.
