Blue Jays recall Sam Gaviglio, option Jacob Waguespack

The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled reliever Sam Gaviglio from the team’s alternate training site and the right-hander will be active for Friday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays have optioned righty Jacob Waguespack to the alternate training site in Rochester and added him to the club’s taxi squad.

Gaviglio has appeared in a pair of games for the Jays so far this season, pitching one inning and sporting an ERA of 27.00. Waguespack, meanwhile, has pitched 11.1 innings for Toronto in 2020 in eight appearances with a 3.97 ERA.

In addition to Waguespack, left-hander Travis Bergen, outfielder Billy McKinney and infielder Ruben Tejada have also been added to Toronto’s taxi squad.

Friday’s first pitch between the Blue Jays and Rays is set for 6:37 p.m.
