Moises Sierra is coming back to the Toronto Blue Jays.
The team announced on Wednesday that they have recalled outfielder Moises Sierra from triple-A Buffalo.
The Blue Jays needed an additional outfielder with Jose Bautista going on the 15-day DL after he aggravated a bone bruise in his left hip in Tuesday’s doubleheader against the New York Yankees.
“I’m not expecting to be shut down,” Bautista told Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi after a 3-2 loss to the Yankees. “From what the doctor said, and I have full trust in his diagnosis, after the two weeks he expects the bone bruise to be somewhat healed if not completely, then after that a couple days of baseball action, and I’ll be ready to go.”
The 25-year-old Sierra is hitting .261 with 18 doubles, five triples, 11 home runs and 51 RBIs in 100 games in triple-A this season.
He played 49 games with the Blue Jays last season, batting .224 with six home runs and 15 RBI.
