TORONTO – Michael Saunders is a candidate for his first all-star game after being named to the fan vote for the final spot on the American League roster.

The Toronto Blue Jays left-fielder is in the midst of a remarkable bounce back season after losing virtually all off 2015 to a bone bruise in his left knee that resulted from a spring meniscus tear.

The native of Victoria, B.C., entered Tuesday’s play ranked third in OPS among American League outfielders at .910, posting a .290/.366/.544 slash line with 15 homers and 38 RBIs.

He’ll need to fend off Ian Kinsler, Evan Longoria, Dustin Pedroia and George Springer in fan balloting to earn a trip to San Diego.
